Rate relief for MPD Electric Cooperative members as subsidiary hits major milestone

MPD Electric Cooperative and Marlboro Development Team announced a significant milestone that reflects years of strategic growth and a shared commitment to community prosperity.
Marlboro Development Team has officially completed its 100th development project, a landmark achievement that has directly contributed to the strength and reach of MPD Electric Cooperative, assisting in the reduction of rates for its members.
Over the course of its history, Marlboro Development Team has expanded its footprint across 23 states, championing a total of $1.5 billion investments and developing 8.4 million square feet of space. That growth has created more than 7,000 jobs and generated economic activity that extends far beyond the communities where each project was built, especially in South Carolina and the Pee Dee Region. As one of SC’s fastest growing real estate development firms, the completion of the 100th project stands as a testament to the trust placed in the organization by its partners, investors, and the communities it serves.
The success of Marlboro Development Team has played a meaningful role in strengthening MPD Electric Cooperative’s financial position. The MPD Electric Cooperative Board announced this week a rate reduction averaging 10% in current rates across all rate classes for the summer months, effective May 1st. The rate decrease applies to residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal members alike.
“Reaching 100 projects is a great moment, but what truly matters is what that success means for the people in our communities,” said William L. Fleming, Jr., President and CEO of both Marlboro Development Team and MPD Electric Cooperative. “We are thrilled that these blessings have allowed us to hire an incredibly talented team focused on our cooperative members. Keeping power affordable and assisting in the recruitment of jobs and investments provides a compounding effect on our members’ quality of life.”
The rate reduction underscores MPD Electric Cooperative’s ongoing commitment to affordability and service excellence. Members will see the updated rates reflected in their bills beginning with the May billing cycle.
As Marlboro Development Team embarks on its next 100 projects, both organizations remain focused on generating lasting value, economic, social, and financial, for the communities they serve.
