Locals enjoyed Friday’s Race Week Kick Off Party hosted by Darlington Downtown Revitalization Association at Liberty Lane, with music by Speak Easy Band of Florence and food from local eateries including: South of Pearl, Darlington Country Club, Carolina Bank, CJ’s Cakes & Catering, Julia Belle’s, and Jubilee Farms.
Local race car driver Hayes Goodson was on hand to sign autographs; he drives the Florence-Darlington Technical College sponsored No. 16 Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model and the No. 13 Super Truck in the Pee Dee Coastal Super Truck Series. Artist Blue Sky of Columbia also attended the party; he painted the lovely “Old Darlington Public Square” mural on North Main Street just off the public square in 1985, and the Southern 500 mural at Liberty Lane Walk of Fame in 2014.
