DARLINGTON — Nivia Sturkie Kirby, 82, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, in a local hospital. A graveside service was held Tuesday, Feb. 9, in Berea Cemetery (intersection of Philadelphia Street and Mt. Berea Road), directed by Belk Funeral Home. Born in Florence on Aug. 17, 1938, Nivia was the daughter of the late Lucius Charles Sturkie and the late Melba Rish Sturkie. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother, who also operated Dianne’s Country Sausage. She was of the Holiness faith. She is survived by her husband, Fred Kirby; daughters and sons-in-law Kathy and Brian Riffe, Beverly and Norman Haynes; grandchildren Dustin, Justin and Tommy Riffe and Ashton Haynes; and her brother, Junior Sturkie.
