News & Press to hold Mayoral Debate
The Darlington County News & Press has scheduled a Mayoral Debate for Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 6:00 p.m.
It will be held here at our offices, 117 S. Main Street, in Darlington.
We ask that all candidates will attend share in this momentous occasion.
This will be a closed debate with only the 3 candidates, a moderator and video capabilities.
• Each candidate will be allowed a 1-minute opening statement and a 4-minute closing statement.
• Each candidate will have 2 minutes to answer each of the 6 questions.
• Each candidate will also have the opportunity for a 30-second rebuttal if they choose. Candidates are not required to issue a rebuttal.
• Questions will be rotated so that each candidate will be able to answer first.
• Candidates will not have access to the questions before the debate begins.
Family, friends and other audience members will not be allowed.
The program will be live-streamed on The News & Press Facebook page and saved for our video archives.
We hope all 3 candidates will participate. However, the event will go on regardless of who does or does not attend.
