NATIONAL NEWSPAPER WEEK: Who is Stephan Drew at The News & Press?
Once a year, in early October, we celebrate National Newspaper Week and, what it means to our community. This year, The Darlington County News & Press would like to change the script just a bit and tell you all about our Editor, Mr. Stephan Drew.
Stephan comes from a very diverse work history, from working as an office clerk in a legal firm, as a nurse in the hospital, to a chiropractor’s office, to an accountant’s office. The News & Press isn’t quite sure how Stephan found us but, one thing is for certain, we are sure glad he did.
Stephan started his career with The News & Press as a Sales Executive in our Advertising department. To hear him tell it, this was not at all what he was meant to do, but with his desire to work in the press field, it kept him going until he landed in the Graphics department. After landing in our design room, Stephan was approached and asked his opinion on becoming editor. If I was to tell you that Stephan went home and took some time to think about this decision would you believe me? After some, consideration, Stephan decided to take the Editor position and, the rest is history.
Where can you find Stephan, may you ask? Everywhere! Stephan works tirelessly to ensure that the citizens of Darlington County are informed of what is going on around the entire county. From covering all your local councils’ meetings, ribbon cuttings, city and county events and, everything else one could think of, Stephan is there. Stephan always has a bright smile and cheerful attitude and is an absolute delight to work with. Stephan truly wants what is best for this community and is always there to fairly report what is happening, to keep all citizens in the know.
The Darlington County News & Press would like to take this time to just tell Stephan, “Thank You!” Thank you for everything you do for this community and, we feel like, you don’t get the recognition you deserve. We are here to tell you that we appreciate everything you do for The News & Press and, we wish you many, many more years of covering events and being the voice of Darlington County.
