Darlington County Magistrate Melissa Burch was named the recipient of CareSouth Carolina’s Community Partner Award on Tuesday, honored for her exceptional partnership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the youth served at AMIkids Sandhills. The announcement was made during CareSouth Carolina’s staff meeting, held at the Florence-Darlington Technical College SiMT Building in Florence.
The award recognizes individuals whose collaboration with CareSouth Carolina helps extend quality healthcare to underserved populations across the region. This year, that recognition went to Melissa Burch, whose years of work with AMIkids Sandhills has left a lasting impression on CareSouth officials and care teams alike.
CareSouth officials said Burch has been an invaluable partner to the organization’s Mobile Health, Dental, Telehealth, and Behavioral Health teams. Her willingness to go above and beyond each day, they said, has played a significant role in ensuring that the youth at AMIkids Sandhills have timely access to comprehensive healthcare services.
“Whether coordinating on-site visits, advocating for expanded services, assisting with medication management, or helping remove barriers to care, Melissa consistently demonstrates an extraordinary level of compassion, professionalism, and dedication,” CareSouth officials said.
Officials emphasized that Burch’s impact goes far beyond logistics. Her steady presence and problem-solving mindset have helped bridge gaps between healthcare providers and the young people who depend on their services — often stepping in to smooth over the kinds of obstacles that can otherwise delay or derail care.
