Meet the News & Press’ new General Manager

Johnnie Daniels is the new General Manager for the News & Press, having taken over the position on May 1.
Daniels succeeds Morrey Thomas after the News & Press was recently acquired by The Herald Group and Jordan family from the Thomas family.
Daniels is a seasoned newspaper veteran, having served as Advertising Director and General Manager of The Dillon Herald as well as covering Dillon County high-school sports and other activities for nearly 50 years.
He is currently still serving in his position at The Dillon Herald as well. Daniels is a winner of multiple South Carolina Press Association awards in both advertising and news/photography.
Daniels is very community-minded. He established and has been active in The Dillon Herald’s annual Toy and Food Drive, which is one of the largest held in the county and has helped hundreds of families and thousands of people since its inception.
Daniels is also founder and chairman of Help for Veterans Inc., which helps veterans in Dillon County with food, bills and other needs. Under his direction, the group holds the largest annual health fair in Dillon County.
Daniels is very interested in promoting Dillon County’s youth and spends countless hours of his own time covering ball games and taking photos.
Daniels hopes to continue the tradition of providing quality news and advertising to the citizens of Darlington County. He looks forward to establishing good personal and business relationships with the citizens of Darlington County. Daniels is an active member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Dillon. He resides in Dillon with his wife, Cheryl.
