McLeod ranks among Nation’s Best for Cardiac Care
Two McLeod Health hospitals have earned national recognition from the American College of Cardiology (ACC) for their commitment to providing high-quality care for patients experiencing a heart attack.
McLeod Regional Medical Center has received the 2026 NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award, while McLeod Health Seacoast has earned the 2026 NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Silver Performance Achievement Award. Both awards recognize commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies sustained achievement in providing heart attack patients with care aligned with American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.
The recognition marks significant accomplishments for both hospitals. McLeod Regional Medical Center demonstrated sustained achievement in the Chest Pain – MI Registry for two consecutive years (2024 and 2025) and performed at the highest level for specific performance measures to earn Platinum recognition. This is the ninth consecutive year McLeod Regional has received the Platinum Performance Achievement Award, demonstrating a continued commitment to excellence in heart attack care. At the same time, McLeod Health Seacoast’s first Silver Performance Achievement Award represents a significant milestone as the hospital establishes itself among nationally recognized participants in the Chest Pain – MI Registry and builds upon this achievement toward future levels of recognition.
The American College of Cardiology reports that McLeod Regional Medical Center is one of only 350 hospitals nationwide to receive the Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2026, while McLeod Health Seacoast is one of only 71 hospitals nationwide to receive the Silver Performance Achievement Award.
“We are pleased to present McLeod Regional Medical Center and McLeod Health Seacoast with the awards in recognition of their national leadership and steadfast commitment to meeting comprehensive performance measures in patient care,” Leslie L. Davis, PhD, ANP-BC, FACC, Chair of the NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Steering Subcommittee. “These achievements reflect McLeod’s continued focus on providing high-quality, guideline-driven care for patients who experience a heart attack and ensuring they receive exceptional cardiovascular care.”
The Centers for Disease Control estimates that over 800,000 Americans suffer a heart attack each year. A heart attack occurs when a blood clot in a coronary artery partially or completely blocks blood flow to the heart muscle. Treatment guidelines include administering aspirin upon arrival and discharge, timely restoration of blood flow to the blocked artery, smoking cessation counseling and cardiac rehabilitation, among others.
Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry empowers health care provider teams to consistently treat heart attack patients according to the most current, science-based guidelines and establishes a national standard for understanding and improving the quality, safety and outcomes of care provided for patients with coronary artery disease, specifically high-risk heart attack patients.
