The 2016 season of Market on Darlington Square began on Saturday, May 7 on the Public Square as merchant enjoyed the fresh air market and music by local musicians Rusty Henderson, Johnnie Iseman and Sandy Banks. Thirty vendors participated, and a pet parade delighted shoppers of all ages.

Katherine Wallace, the youngest vendor at the Market, is embarking on her third year. To date, she has purchased two tablets from her earnings and is deciding between purchasing a skateboard, or a cell phone with her earnings this year. As her parents have told her she will also be obligated to purchase a year contract for the cell phone, the skateboard may be a deciding factor on this year’s projected earnings.
Darlington Lions Club members demonstrated that their brooms may be used for more than cleaning, such as a samuri sword, or a mode of transportation. Their sales pitch worked… I bought one!
