Miss Elizabeth Pearce Lawson of Darlington and Mr. Aaron Mitchell Griffith of Sumter were married on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Trinity Methodist Church in Darlington. The Reverend Edmond Ragland Coxe and the Reverend Timothy Julian Rogers officiated the ceremony. A program of wedding music was given by Dr. Will Carswell, organist; Dr. Tony Roebuck, trumpeter; Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Lee McCormick, Miss Danielle Cottingham and Mrs. Michael Dean Sigmon, Sr., soloists. A reception followed at the Darlington Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Irving Lawson of Darlington. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roy Franklin Williams, Jr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Laurie Coke Lawson of Darlington. She is a graduate of the Calhoun Honors College at Clemson University with a degree in Genetics and is presently a third year student at VCOM Medical School.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Walter Griffith, Jr. of Sumter. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Mitchell Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. James Walter Griffith, Sr. of Sumter. He is a graduate of USC-Beaufort with a degree in Biology and is presently a third year student at VCOM Medical School.
Miss Caroline Coke Lawson and Miss Mary Adair Lawson, sisters of the bride, served as Maids of Honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Anna Frances Crickman, Miss Caroline Peyton Griffith, sister of the groom, Miss Lindsey Nicole Richardson, Miss Kaitlyn Elizabeth Shillinglaw and Miss Kathryn Elizabeth Sturgeon.
The groom’s father served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Mr. Noah Hunter Campbell, Mr. Seth Landon Hughes, Mr. John Haston Terry and Mr. Jacob Scott Vining. Ushers were Mr. Timothy Fields Norwood Jr. and Mr. Bradford Grey McBride.
Honorary Bridesmaids were Miss Alison Irina Cohen, Miss Hannah Marie Isgett, Miss Alexandra Hodge Manaras, Miss Laura Ann McCann, Miss Erin Kaitlyn Mihealsick, Miss Katherine Elizabeth Ott and Miss Maria Magdalena Paullier.
Crucifer was Mr. Raym Hucks Kirven and acolytes were Mr. Boyd Wallace Bass and Mr. Milledge Foster Bass. Wedding directors were Mr. Thomas Gray Wilson and Mr. William Wilson Kirven IV.
Following a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple will make their home in Sumter.
