Lamar-Spaulding Elementary teachers publish book

Michelle Lloyd and Dee Driggers (above), teachers at Lamar-Spaulding Elementary in Darlington County, have published a children’s book entitled “LunaLu the Llamacorn.” Lloyd is a third-grade teacher from Lamar. Driggers is an elementary art teacher from Olanta. Lloyd felt it was important to teach children about how to love themselves for their unique gifts. In the book, LunaLu learns an important lesson at an early age that builds her character. She was given a horn at birth from her fairy friends that captured the attention of others. Soon she was taken from her home and placed in a zoo. Since LunaLu looked different, other animals made fun of her. Eventually everyone realized that she was beautiful and unique. The book was released Sept. 6 and can be purchased online from Barnes & Noble, Amazon and Walmart. CONTRIBUTED PHOTOS
