Lamar lottery ticket wins $30,000 for “out-of-towner”

From Staff Reports

She came to Lamar to visit relatives, and she left $30,000 richer. An unidentified woman – described only as an “out-of-towner” by the S.C. Lottery Commission – stopped at a Lamar store recently and bought a South Carolina Education Lottery ticket worth $30,000. “It was surreal,” the winner told lottery officials. She stopped by Ken’s Corner No. 9 on Warren Street in Lamar and gambled on one $2 Money Mania scratch-off. It was a winner. Ken’s Corner received a commission of $300 for selling the claimed ticket. The winner called her family in Lamar to let them know she’d be returning soon to collect her prize money. “I’ll play the lottery again in South Carolina,” she said.
