Lamar Lady Silver Foxes defeat Johnsonville Lady Flashes

The Lamar Lady Silver Foxes handed the visiting Johnsonville Lady Flashes a 47 to 36 loss in varsity basketball action on Wednesday, Feb. 10, in Lamar. Johnsonville started strong and finished the first quarter with a 14 to 7 point lead over the Lamar Silver Foxes. Lamar Coach Randolf Scott stated that “We had several mishaps that Johnsonville really capitalized on.” The Johnsonville Flashes were up to 20 points by half time with the Silver Foxes close behind with 17. At the start of the second half, the Flashes couldn’t hold their defense against the Silver Foxes. Under the leadership of Coach Scott, Lamar displayed much better communication allowing them to rebound. At the end of the third quarter the Lady Silver Foxes had surpassed the Lady Flashes 26 to 22. By the end of the game, both teams capitalized on several 3-point shots and Lamar had gained several steals on Johnsonville bringing the final score to 47 for Lamar and 36 for Johnsonville. Lamar’s Dea’Quashia Robinson led all scores with 17 points, Myasia Stephenson added 12 points, and Niya Gates scored 10. Johnsonville’s Brooks Eaddy led the team with 10 points followed by Ny’Asia Graham with 8, L’Asia Nesmith and TaNiya Timmons each generated 6 points, Ja’Shyia Ham placed 5 on the scoreboard, and Heidi Anderson scored 3 points. Both teams exemplified good sportsmanship and the school obeyed all Covid-19 regulations. Enjoy a game of basketball and support your team on your night out.
