Judy Shelly
DARLINGTON- Judy Dean Shelly, age 72, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, February 1 at 4:00 in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home. The family received friends immediately following the service and other times at 1112 Wildshall RD, Darlington.
Judy was born in Florence on November 21, 1949, daughter of the late J.C. and Doris Shaw Weatherford. Judy worked for Coggeshall’s for many years before working as a bookkeeper for Bristow Oil Company. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Tommy Shelly of Winston-Salem, her daughter, Teniele (Reed) Blackwell of Darlington, grandchildren: Heather Brandt, Christian Shelly, Trevor Shelly, Shelly Blackwell, Laney Blackwell and Tanner Blackwell; a great-grandson, Joseph Brandt, siblings: Janice Poston, Rita Pattillo, Ann Gainey, Jack Weatherford, Robbie (Kay) Weatherford, and her sister-in-law who was like a sister, Joan McDaniel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. “Tommy” Shelly, and siblings: Betty Lou Porter, Susie Weatherford, Fuzzy Weatherford and Billy Weatherford.
