Jail inmate dies at local hospital
Foul play is not suspected in the Sept. 19 death of an inmate at the Darlington County jail, according to Coroner Todd Hardee. The yet-unidentified inmate “experienced a medical issue” and was taken to a local hospital, where the inmate died, Hardee said. An autopsy was scheduled at MUSC. The Darlington County Coroner’s Office was investigating, with aid from SLED.
