High-speed car chase ends with suspect in custody

On May 20, 2025, shortly after 11:00am, Darlington County Deputies were asked to assist Hartsville Police Department in reference to a reckless driver who was driving a red corvette at a high rate of speed through the city of Hartsville, headed southbound down Highway 151 towards the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.
The individual slowed down and attempted to make a right turn down Camp Road, discovered deputies were staged, and continued straight instead. He continued down 151 past Manheim and turned down U.S. 52 bypass, at which time traffic at the stoplight of 52 and 401 prevented the subject from going further.
At this time, deputies decided it was in the best interest of the public to prevent the subject from going any further. Deputies used their vehicles to disable the suspects vehicle and stop the threat to the motoring public. There was minor damage to two deputies vehicles and damage to the suspects vehicle. There are no reported injuries.
The suspect was taken into custody and his name will be released at a later time with charges pending from Hartsville Police Department and the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office. South Carolina Highway Patrol also assisted in this incident.
There is no further information at this time. We will keep you updated as further details emerge.
