Hartsville man slain

A 38-year-old Hartsville man was killed in a shooting late Thursday night/early Friday morning in the Hartsville area, according to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office and the county Coroner’s Office. The victim’s name had not been released, but the Sheriff’s Office has arrested Leonardo Denez Jones and charged him with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with the slaying, according to jail records. Jones was booked into the county jail Friday morning. The incident happened on McCall Road, the Sheriff’s Office said. A statement from Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee indicated it happened on Ousleydale Road.
