Four Darlington County students graduate from Governor’s School

Raeva Bali, Lili Fonteneau, Emily Harris and Kobe Jiang graduated from the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) on May 22 at the GSSM Campus in Hartsville. Raeva Bali, child of Arvind J. Bali and Suparna C. Bali, will attend the University of South Carolina. Lili Fonteneau, child of Etienne Fonteneau and Michelle Fonteneau, will attend Clemson University. Emily Harris, child of Joel G. Harris and Celeste Harris, will attend Furman University. Kobe Jiang, child of Nian Ying Jiang, will attend Clemson University. The 130 students who comprise the GSSM Class of 2021 hail from 31 different South Carolina counties and over 70 different high schools. Graduates will attend a variety of public and private colleges and universities spread out across the entire country. Approximately half of the graduates will remain in the state of South Carolina to pursue their undergraduate degrees, enrolling in S.C. institutions including Clemson University, Coastal Carolina University, College of Charleston, Francis Marion University, Furman University, Presbyterian College, University of South Carolina-Columbia, and Wofford College.
