Fort Jackson trains 43,000 per year
Fort Jackson in Columbia is the biggest basic-training center in the U.S. Army, training 50 percent of all soldiers entering the Army each year. Some 35,000 potential soldiers attend basic training and 8,000 advanced individual training soldiers train there annually. These photos, taken a few weeks ago, depict some of the rigorous training exercises Fort Jackson offers. PHOTOS COURTESY FORT JACKSON
