Former Volunteer Firefighter arrested

A former volunteer firefighter in the Pee Dee area has been accused of stealing money from the Darlington County Fire Department (DCFD). Investigators arrested Justin Polson on Thursday, according to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office. He is charged with Breach of Trust with Fraudulent Intent in an amount greater than $10,000 and also larceny in an amount of $2,000 or less.

Polson allegedly used money belonging to the DCFD Station 12 to buy certain items which were not approved by the department between July 2018 and April 2019. Polson is also accused of stealing diesel fuel at the department on June 24. The case is pending in Circuit Court and the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office said it cannot release any more information at this time.

Polson was booked into the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center in Darlington following his arrest. He was later released on a bond of $12,500.
