FDTC’s United Way campaign wins award
Florence-Darlington Technical College’s United Way campaign for 2019-20 was recently recognized for its successful fund raising efforts of $9,287 last fall.
The United Way of Florence County presented FDTC with its Bronze Award.
The United Way was supposed to have an awards ceremony for its campaign coordinators in April, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced the ceremony’s cancellation.
Michelle Byers, director of campaign and donor relations, brought the award to FDTC and presented it to the college.
Byers said the local United Way is 99 percent toward its $1 million goal for the 2019-20 campaign, which ended June 30. “We really appreciate Florence-Darlington Technical College’s continued support of the United Way of Florence County and look forward to many more years of giving by FDTC,” said Byers.
FDTC givers have the option of designating their gift to a particular agency supported by the United Way.
If they don’t live in Florence County, participants can direct their gift towards an agency supported by their local United Way.
The United Way of Florence County just celebrated its 65th birthday and currently helps fund 26 different non-profit social service agencies in the area. The funded groups represent a wide variety of agencies that assist the citizens of the Pee Dee.
