Driver killed as truck hits tree and a house
A driver died early Sunday morning when a pickup truck ran off a Darlington County road, hit a tree and then hit a house, the Highway Patrol said. Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee identified the victim as Hector Chavez, 37, of Hartsville. The patrol said the incident happened at 1:30 a.m. on Billy Farrow Highway. The patrol said a Toyota pickup was traveling west when it ran off the left side of the road, overcorrected, ran off the right side of the road, then hit a tree and a house.
