DFD relocates while city targets sinkholes

(Above left) State Sen. Gerald Malloy, Mayor Curtis Boyd, Darlington City Manager Howard Garland and other officials met last Monday with the S.C. DOT road-repair crew that will be spending the next several weeks working on streets around the Fire Department that have been eroded by sinkholes. While the work is conducted on Orange and Wells streets, the Fire Department will relocate to a heated warehouse on East Broad Street. (Above right) S.C. DOT road-repair crew discusses the actual implementation of the relocation plan. (Bottom) At the warehouse: Chief Pat Cavanaugh, engineer Brandon Wilson, Capt. Perry Kelly. Service should not be affected by the temporary relocation. While Orange and Wells streets are being reconstructed, drivers should use Sycamore, Dargan, Pearl, Sanders and Liberty streets to avoid the area. PHOTOS BY BOBBY BRYANT AND CITY OF DARLINGTON
