Deputies investigate two armed robberies

The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office was investigating two armed robberies, one near Hartsville and the other just outside Darlington. On Dec. 23, an armed man walked into Advance America Cash Advance on Lamar Highway, just beyond the Darlington city limits, and demanded cash. He fled in a burgundy Chevrolet Malibu. On Dec. 24, three masked suspects armed with handguns entered a Sav-Way on North 5th Street near Hartsville, stole cash and fled on foot. No injuries were reported. The Florence Police Department believes that the Dec. 23 case is related to the robbery of a Check Into Cash on Irby Street the same day.
