DCSD suspends 2 sports programs due to COVID-19

Last week, an adult associated with the Lamar High School (LHS) girls’ basketball team tested positive for COVID-19, the Darlington County School District said in a news release. Because the majority of players have been designated as close contacts and placed into a mandatory 14-day quarantine, the LHS girls’ basketball program has been temporarily suspended. The LHS girls’ basketball game against Darlington High School was canceled. A Darlington Middle School (DMS) boys’ basketball player tested positive for COVID-19, the DCSD said. Here again, because a majority of players have been designated as close contacts and placed into a mandatory 14-day quarantine, the DMS boys’ basketball program has been temporarily suspended.
