Darlington shoplifter sentenced to 3 years
Hykem Mack, age 30 of Darlington, SC, pled guilty to Shoplifting on Thursday, March 20, 2025 in Darlington County General Sessions Court. The charge stemmed from a January 27, 2025 incident where Mack stole alcoholic beverages from the Sav-Way in Darlington, SC. Judge Brian Gibbons sentenced the defendant to 3 years incarceration. The case was prosecuted by Assistant Solicitor Adam M. Foard.
In addition to the Shoplifting plea, Mack was found to have violated the terms and conditions of his Probation sentence for a prior criminal conviction.
“Hykem Mack was given an opportunity while on probation to get his life in order,” said Assistant Solicitor Foard. “Instead, he continued his criminal ways and is paying the price.”
After the plea, Solicitor Mike Burch thanked law enforcement and probation agents for their work in bringing this defendant to justice. “It takes a collaborative effort of different arms of the criminal justice system when repeat offenders violate their terms of release,” said Burch. “Probation is a privilege and there must be consequences when you squander that privilege.”
Mack’s sentence will be served in a facility to be determined by the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
