On Oct. 16, 1921, the 40 Charter Members of Pilot International came together to sign the original Pilot Charter. Two days later, they gathered again to celebrate and conduct the first official Pilot Club meeting Oct. 18, 1921.
From that day on, Pilots around the world have gathered to meet, celebrate and honor this historic day, Oct. 18, as Founders Day. Darlington Pilots gathered at their October meeting to celebrate locally the 99th anniversary of PI’s Founders Day. Local members wore accessories in vogue those many years ago as they studied together highlights from the history of Pilot. Also at this meeting, Darlington Pilots expressed appreciation to their immediate past president, Kimberly Nelson, and presented her with a plaque and the past-president’s pin.
