Darlington man faces 3 attempted murder charges

A Darlington man was being held without bond after being charged with three counts of attempted murder in connection with a 2020 incident. James Quinton Jacobs, 37, of 212 Avenue F, Darlington, is accused of firing multiple shots into a car containing a man, his fiancé and their child, 5, according to the Darlington Police Department. On Aug. 4, 2020, according to reports, they were leaving a Chestnut Street home when a man in another vehicle drove up and began shooting. They tried to drive away, but the assailant chased them, still shooting. The victims stopped in the city pool’s parking lot and the gunman drove past them. No one was hurt. Jail records show Jacobs now faces three counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and two counts of failure to appear in court after release for a felony.
