Darlington County Historical Commission and Museum meets with Jacob Kelley House Guild members

The Darlington County Historical Commission and Museum board met with the Jacob Kelley House Guild members at the Jacob Kelley House on Thursday, October 6th. Located at 2585 Kelleytown Road in Hartsville, the original part of the house predates 1830 with the second story being added between 1830 and 1840. The group met to discuss reopening the house and planning future events there. ABOVE: The groups gathered around the table in the dining room of the Jacob Kelley House. PHOTO BY STEPHAN DREW

Darlington County Historical Commission and Museum Director Brian Gandy displays a reproduction of what he calls an “early version of a convection oven.” Gandy explained that people would place this in an active fireplace and the heat would radiate around the “oven” and cook the food.
