Darlington 4-H collects for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes

Not only does Darlington 4-H give back to its county, we give back to the world. To help celebrate the holidays, Darlington 4-H’ers decided to do the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Outreach of Samaritan’s Purse International Relief. Operation Christmas Child dates back to 1993 and every year since, Samaritan’s Purse has collected shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items for children around the world. More than 178 million children in 150 countries have received an Operation Christmas Child shoebox. With the COVID-19 pandemic, Darlington 4-H’ers felt more compelled than ever to make sure this holiday season was the best one for these kids. Shoeboxes were donated by Shoe Carnival in Florence. 4-H’ers made eight shoeboxes for boys and girls 2-14. Gifts included notebooks, school supplies, hairbrushes, hair ties, clothes, toys and small toiletries. CONTRIBUTED PHOTOS
