Cook Out signs on as Southern 500 sponsor

With only weeks left before the race, the Cook Out fast-food chain snagged the rights to sponsor the Southern 500.
Bojangles’, which had sponsored the event since 2012, pulled out about nine months ago. The Darlington Raceway and NASCAR announced last week that Cook Out, described as one of the fastest-growing family-owned restaurant chains in the country, will take over sponsorship of the race.
“Cook Out is known for serving their fresh burgers, barbecue, hot dogs and shakes across the South for 30 years, and we look forward to expanding our partnership for the Cook Out Southern 500,” raceway President Kerry Tharp said in a statement.
The chain already had been named Official Quick Service Restaurant of Darlington Raceway.
Cook Out has 250 locations in 10 states (Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia). It’s headquartered in North Carolina.
