Saturday, October 8th, the Senior Citizens Association of Center Baptist Church held a Masquerade Ball to honor all of the church seniors. The ball was held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Florence and saw a wonderful turnout of church members and guests.
Ms. Mae Helen Burch, the director/coordinator for the event began by welcoming all the guests. The group blessed the food and ate before starting the judging.
After lunch, the show began with each visitor showing the crowd and the judges their outfits. The judges, who consisted of Ms. Alma Harris, Mr. Moses and Ms. JaNet Bishop, Ms. Teresa Henneghan, and Ms. Tracy Woodard, judged each visitor in 5 separate categories. Visitors were judged by uniqueness, best coordinated, best style, best presentation, and most creative. The room was filled with laughter and joy as each participant did their best to show off to the judges.
After the show and a drawing for door prizes, the guests danced to music, including the Soul Train Line. After many laughs on the dance floor, Pastor Jackie Boyd of Center Baptist Church made his closing remarks to the group. Mae Helen Burch thanked the group for coming and mentioned that the winner will be revealed during church services on October 16th.
