The image of a stern female librarian with glasses perched on her nose, wearing wool skirts and pearls is no longer a part of the libraries of today. In fact, the new branch manager of the Darlington library is pretty darn hip.
And patrons love it!
64th National Day of Prayer
The Darlington Ministerial Association hosted the 64th Annual National Day of Prayer community service held on Thursday, May 7th at noon at the Darlington Public Square in front of the Darlington County Courthouse brought together members of law enforcement, fire department, local government, residents of Bethea Baptist, community members, and even a sweet 17 year old Labrador retriever.
Signing day for five student athletes
May 7 was a banner day for the Darlington County School District as three Lamar High School Silver Foxes and two Darlington High School Falcons signed letters of intent to continue their sports and academic careers.
Robinson employees donate bikes to local kids
Duke Energy’s Robinson Nuclear Plant employees are well known in the Darlington County area for their many volunteer efforts and generous support of community outreach programs. Their latest employee driven initiative exceeded their goals in record number, and was rolled out Thursday May 7th in the Darlington High School gym- the first donations of a bicycle donation drive.
Darlington to use “Less Lethal Launchers”
Officers with the City of Darlington Police Department will soon have a new tool in their arsenal for subduing violent suspects, one that provides another vitally important “less lethal” option. Last week the department took delivery of ten FN 303 Less Lethal Launchers, free of charge, courtesy of the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, which received the launchers through a federal law enforcement grant program.
