Historical Society hears of quest for Confederate cannons
The Darlington County Historical Society convened their 2016 Spring Meeting on April 21, and heard a presentation from author Ted Gragg and diver Bob Butler, who spent decades searching muddy riverbanks and murky waters for relics from the Confederate Warship CSS Pee Dee.

Elaine Reed sworn in as Darlington City Council’s 7th member
Elaine Reed was officially sworn in to office at the April 12m 2016 meeting with her son, Cisco Reed, at her side. She won the special election on April 5th for Ward 2, replacing the seat left vacant by Mayor Gloria Hines.
Fatal vehicle crash at County Courthouse
A pick up truck hit the Darlington County Courthouse at the Public Square in Darlington early this morning, killing the driver. The City of Darlington police department was the first on the scene before 4:00 a.m., finding the vehicle in flames.
