Byerly Foundation grant to DCDSNB
The Darlington County Disabilities and Special Needs Board, which operates the Scott Center in Hartsville, will be able to make renovations to some of the homes of their clients after earning a grant from The Byerly Foundation. PEANUTS: Historic farm sees future in a versatile legume
Although tobacco hasn’t grown here since 2010, this fertile 3,500 acre spread still yields bumper crops of verdant turf grass, sorghum, soybeans, corn, and winter wheat, and, in recent years, has about 300 to 400 acres dedicated to South Carolina’s latest cash crop: peanuts.
Community unites for Cleanup Darlington
The Kalmia Garden Study Club and the City of Darlington teamed up with hard-working citizens for a Community Cleanup Day on Saturday, Sep. 19. Getting downtown ready for fall festival season meant grass trimming, hedge clipping, weed pulling, painting flower urns, and lining flower and shrub gardens with lots and lots of fresh pinestraw.
