The Girl Scouts of Eastern S.C. announces that Lillian Brunson of Darlington is an honoree for the 2021 Mary Dean Brewer Women of Distinction. This is a fundraiser for the Girl Scouts of Eastern S.C. July 24 at the SiMT. The event will take place from 6-9 p.m. and will celebrate the women living and working in eastern South Carolina who have demonstrated qualities of outstanding leadership, excellence in their personal and professional endeavors, and served as role models for girls. Brunson is described as “an active member of her community. Not only was she a Girl Scout herself but was a leader for her daughter and now granddaughter’s troops. Ms. Brunson was a teacher in the Darlington County School District for over 30 years. “Over these years, she worked hard to help her students and her dedication can be seen in her accolades. As well as teaching school, Ms. Brunson has been a swimming instructor for over 45 years. As a mother, a leader and a mentor, Lillian Brunson has dedicated her love and life into her community.” More information on the Mary Dean Brewer Women of Distinction event and this year’s honorees can be found on the Girl Scouts of Eastern S.C.’s website at http://www.girlscoutsesc.org.
