2018 Rain Barrel Art Review winners announced

Carolina Elementary and Sneed Middle School Squire Squad 4-H took top awards in the 2018 Rain Barrel Art Review sponsored by the Florence Darlington Stormwater Consortium (FDSC). Open to schools and community groups in Florence and Darlington counties, the goal of the competition was to educate the public about the benefits of using rain barrels to reduce runoff and protect water quality.
A total of eight rain barrels were entered in the competition. Completed barrels were displayed at Kalmia Gardens’ Earth Day festival held on April 21 where visitors voted for their favorite barrel in each category. Prizes were awarded for the top three barrels in each category.
All of the barrels will be installed in public locations to serve as demonstrations of rainwater harvesting.
The winners are:

1st – Carolina Elementary (Ms. Anderson’s Class)
2nd – Hartsville High School Art III (Ms. Pietrzak’s Class )
3rd – Hartsville High School IBVA (Ms. Pietrzak’s Class)

 

Community Group
1st – Sneed Middle School Squire Squad 4-H
2nd – John W. Moore Intermediate School Environmental Club
3rd – Sneed Middle School Robotics Team
