Betty Jacobs Fulmer

Betty Jacobs Fulmer, 68, of Darlington died on Monday, September 11, 2017.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at noon in the Chapel of Kistler Hardee Funeral Home. Burial followed in Dovesville Church of God. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Kistler Hardee Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Betty was born in Lancaster, SC. She was the daughter of the late John Martin Chappell and Lessie Cagle Chappell. Betty along with her sister, Brenda enjoyed junkin. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and pulling jokes on everyone.

Surviving are her husband, Steve Fulmer of Darlington; her son Kenny Jacobs and wife, Monica of Buford, Ga.; her brothers, Ernie Chappell and Jimmy Chappell both of Timmonsville; her sisters, Ginny Ray and husband, Jerrold of Lugoff, SC and Brenda Herron and husband, Randy of Darlington; special great nephew, Austin Chappell, her heart; her step children, Stephanie Thompkins and Mary Fulmer; 5 step grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Marion “Chief” Jacobs; her parents listed above; her brother, John Chappell; and by her sisters, Pearline Chappell and Millie Miller.

James Edward “Jimmy” Dudley

James Edward “Jimmy” Dudley, 67, of Darlington died on Monday, September 11, 2017 at his home.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 3 p.m. in Indian Branch United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Indian Branch Cemetery, directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home. The family received friends from 2 until 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Indian Branch United Methodist Church and other times at the home.

Jimmy was the son of the late NG Dudley and Melba James Dudley. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he received the bronze star in May of 1971 and served in the United States Army. Jimmy enjoyed playing with his horses, NASCAR Racing and was an avid Gamecock fan.

Surviving are his son, Spencer Dudley (Amber) of Darlington; his loving aunt and uncle, who were like parents to him, Sylvia and Ed James of Darlington; his loving cousins, Debbie Suggs (Glenn) of Darlington and Ricky James (Cheree) of Darlington; his uncle, Herbert James; and his bulldog, Buddy; and a host of other family members and friends.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents listed above and by his brother, Terry Dudley.

Carroll Jean Gandy Bryant

Carroll Jean Gandy Bryant, 85, of Darlington died on Sunday, September 10, 2017.

Private graveside services were held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 3 p.m. in Society Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery, directed by Kistler Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington.

Jean was born in Darlington County. She was the daughter of the late Edward Stout Gandy and Martha Ellen Heyward.
Surviving are her husband, Eulas Jennings Bryant of Darlington; her son, Jay Bryant (Krista) of Darlington; her sisters, JoAnn Gandy of Cheraw, Ruth Keith (Albert) of Cheraw, and Doris Monast (Roger) of Charleston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents listed above; and her brothers, Charles Edward “Sonny Boy” Gandy and Kenny Gandy.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Society Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, 308 Pressley Ave, Society Hill, SC 29593.

Lott Williamson, Sr.

Memorial services for Mr. Lott Williamson, Sr. of Darlington were held 2 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 513 Gilchrist Road, Darlington.

Mr. Williamson was born in Darlington, South Carolina to the late Maggie McKay Williamson and Albertus Williamson, Sr. He was the 8th of 12 children.

Survivors are: his wife of 64 years, Edell Williamson; four daughters: Angela Johnson, Ramona Lovejoy, Sandra Graham and Deborah J. Tims; one son, Lott Williamson, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Rose Williamson; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, two sisters; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Arrangements are entrusted to Jordan Funeral Home, Inc.

The family received friends at the residence, 448 Pineville Road, Darlington.

Priscilla “Dolores” La Cross

Priscilla “Dolores” La Cross, 74, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 16, 2017 a McLeod Health in Florence, SC. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, at the Lamar United Methodist Church, with burial following at Lamar Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Born April 5, 1943, in Lamar, SC, she was a daughter of the late Keith P. Hicks, Jr. and the late Elsie Windham Hicks. Dolores was a member of the Lamar United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years and she was active in the Lamar United Methodist Woman. Dolores retired from the Darlington County School District after over 18 years of service to the children of Lamar. She was also a member of the Friends of the Lamar Library.
Dolores was a devoted wife of 47 years to her late husband Marty La Cross. She was a loving and selfless mother of three sons: Randy (Pam) La Cross of Florence, Corey (Michell) La Cross of Lexington, and Craig La Cross of Lamar. She experienced the joy of being a caring “Noni” and serving as a role model of God’s love to 4 grandchildren: Tyler (Melissa), Jonathan (fiancé Jessie), Megan (Ryan), and Brandon; and 3 great-grandchildren: Ethan, Martin, and Jesse.
Dolores loved her Lord and served Him faithfully. Her work in Lamar United Methodist Church, a church she loved deeply since childhood, and her church family were a great source of pleasure and strength. God used her to be a blessing through her card ministry and her daily interactions with friends, family, and even strangers. Dolores’s faith was evident in the compassionate life she lived. Dolores was an avid reader and writer leaving a legacy of journals to her family. She loved giving inscribed books to family, friends, and others. Dolores loved God’s nature and creation. Her yard is adorned with blue birdhouses and beautiful flowers. She loved caring for her cats and her very special canine companion “Bleu.”

Dolores was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan La Cross. She is survived by a brother, Keith P. Hicks (Veronica), a sister Sherea (Harmon) Greenway, several nieces and nephews, and very special cousin and best friend Fran (Mrytis) Knotts.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening at Belk Funeral Home, Lamar.
