Final list of candidates for fall elections

The roster of candidates vying for local government offices rounded out a bit as the filing period ended last Thursday. This is the final list of candidates eligible for the Nov. 5 Election Day ballot, according to Darlington County Elections and Registrations.

Three candidates will face off for the office of Mayor in Darlington: businessman Curtis Boyd, council member /Mayor Pro Tem Carolyn Bruce and incumbent Mayor Gloria C. Hines.

Darlington City Council members Bryant Gardner and John Milling filed for re-election to their at-large seats. Bruce also filed for re-election to her council seat.

Challengers for these at-large seats include Winfred Herrington, Ernest L. Boston Sr. and Howard J. Nettles.

For Lamar Town Council, two incumbents – Angele White-Bradley and Inez Lee – filed for re-election. They will face challengers Danielle Todd-Wilkes and Nathan Williams for their at-large seats.

In Hartsville, no candidates will face opposition. Two incumbent candidates filed for re-election to Hartsville City Council. Mayor Pro Tem Johnny Andrews has declared for his District 4 seat, and Bobby McGee has filed for a full term representing District 6. McGee won a special election in February to replace retired Councilman William Shirley.

The term of Bernice Wilson, representative for District 2, expires in November and only one candidate – Bryson Sparks Caldwell – filed for that seat.

In Society Hill, three candidates filed for seats on Town Council: Charles W. “Chuck” Baker, Jimmy Scott Dixon, and Melissa Burch.
