State Rep. Robert Williams, D-Darlington, last week officially announced he is running for re-election to S.C. House District 62.
He had already filed for re-election, and faces one challenger in the June Democratic primary: Bryson Caldwell, a member of Hartsville City Council.
Williams, who has served 16 years in the House, said his experience far outweighs that of his challenger. “My opponent does not have the experience,” Williams said in making his formal announcement.
“Certainly since I am there, I understand how things operate,” he said. “I offer a little more knowledge than my opponent. My opponent has never had any statewide experience in terms of making decisions.”
Williams vowed that if re-elected, he will continue “to work hard, as I have done in the past.”
