Charlotte Mims King, 86, passed away on September 21, 2015, surrounded by her family.
Charlotte was born on July 5, 1929 in Darlington County, and was a daughter of the late Charles B. and Maggie Hill Mims. She attended Lydia High School and was a member of Mt. Elon Baptist Church. She loved her church, and enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24th at Mt. Elon Baptist Church. The Rev. Rob Brazell will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. The family received friends in the church fellowship hall from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Herbert L. King Jr.; children: Dianne (Tom) Rosenquist, Omaha, NE; Herby (Teresa) King, Lydia, S.C.; Ted (Laura) King, Marietta, GA; Randy (Kay) King, Pendleton, S.C.; grandchildren: Kevin Eckard, Daniel King, Jonathan King, Caroline (CJ) Johnson, Kathryn King, Brian (Jennifer) King, Jacob King, Will King, Gunnar Rosenquist, and Frank (Annmarie) Rosenquist; great grandchildren: Eric Eckard, Dylan Johnson, Elizabeth King, Megan Rosenquist, Thomas Rosenquist, and Ava Rosenquist; siblings: twin brother Charles (Doris) Mims, Darlington, S.C.; and brother Joe Mims, Florence, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dwight Mims and Gary Mims; sisters, Margaret Johnson, Eunice McFarland Jordan, Grace Jordan, Elizabeth Lee, and Jeanette Mims. Memorials may be made to Mt. Paschal
Vance Maynard Paschal, age 72, died September 25, 2015. A graveside service was held at 2:00 Sunday, September 27, 2015 in Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Born August 22, 1943 in Caswell County, N.C., he was the son the late Irene and Conrad Paschal. Mr. Paschal retired from Perfection Hy-Test. He enjoyed fishing, and watching the Atlanta Braves play ball. Vance was always sitting on the porch of his home, on the corner of Warley and Cashua streets, waving as people passed by. He had served as a Deacon at Monte Clare Baptist Church, and more recently attended Flat Creek Pentecostal Church.
Surviving are his son, Tommy (Becki) Paschal of Charleston; daughter, Teressa (Dink) Combs of Daytona, FL; six grandchildren: Heather Combs, TJ (Heather) Paschal, Amber Paschal, John Anderson, Michael Combs, and Nikki Anderson; great grandchild, Jayden Combs; brother, Larry (Brenda) Paschal of Reidsville, N.C.; sisters: Genene Gilliam of Elon College, N.C., and Brenda (Eddie) May of Reidsville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Paschal; sister, Connie Chilton; and brothers, Danny Paschal and Calvin Paschal.
The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26 at the funeral home and other times at his home, 602 Cashua Street, Darlington.
