Daun Hand Stuart, 56, of Summerville, South Carolina, wife of Robert Bruce Stuart entered into eternal rest Thursday, April 7, 2016. Her memorial service was held Friday, April 15, 2016 in Ashley River Creative Arts School, 1871 Wallace School Rd. at 5:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, S.C.
Daun was born August 29, 1959 in Macon, Georgia, daughter of Clelia Garrison Hand and the late Charles Albert Hand, Jr. She graduated from the College of Charleston class of 1981 were she received her BA degree in Fine Arts with Music Education Certification, and got her graduate hours from Furman University, University of S.C, Duquesne University, Winthrop University, Appalachian State University, and Leonard School of Music. She was also an apprentice graduate at the Charleston Naval Shipyard where she was a Nuclear Fabric Worker.
Daun taught at First Baptist Church School (downtown), and Citadel Square Baptist Church prior to her working at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. She received the Teacher of the year award from Pinewood Preparatory School in 2000, and also the Teacher of the year Award at Ashley River Creative Arts Elementary School 2010-2011 school year.
She was a professional musician whose primary instruments were the Flute, Trombone, and Piano, and she was highly trained in all band instruments. Daun was a member of the Music Educators National Conference since 1981, and the American Music Educators Initiative where she has several Unit Plans published, National Art Education Association, American Craft Council, and the Charleston Artist Guild.
Her pride and joy were her music and art students along with her Guitar, and Drum Groups. She enjoyed performing at several low country church’s and organizations. She was also a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she performed regularly.
She is survived by her mother, Clelia Hand of Canton, N.C.; husband, Robert Bruce Stuart of Summerville, S.C.; sister, Clelia Reardon and the late Robert J. Reardon, Jr., of Charleston, S.C.; brother, Raven Daemeon Hand of Canton, N.C.

James Mitchell “Mitch” Holloway, age 53 passed away Monday, April 11, 2016. A memorial service was held 4:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14th in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home.
Born January 25, 1963, Mitch is the son of Johnny James Holloway, and the late Edith Nell Huggins Holloway. He worked for Honda, and then for Cayce Company Inc. Mitch enjoyed hunting, fishing, and he was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his father, Johnny Holloway is his wife, Lori Johnson Holloway of Darlington; his daughter, Megan Holloway; his brother, Mike (Janice) Holloway of Bluffton, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Thursday at Belk Funeral Home.

Mildred Kelly, 73, of Darlington died on Thursday, April 7, 2016. Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery. The family will received friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Debbie Dixon, 2048 N. Governor Williams Highway, Darlington.
Mrs. Kelly was born in Darlington County. She was the daughter of the late JB and Ida Hall King. Surviving are her husband, William “Bill” Kelly of Darlington; her daughter, Debbie (James) Dixon of Darlington; her sons, Frank Tadlock, Brooks Tadlock, and Jeff (Sherry) Tadlock all of Darlington; her brothers, Sonny (Brenda) King, and Bill (Willie Mae) King, all of Hartsville; a step daughter, Audrey Elliott of Florence; her sisters, Betty Smith of Hartsville, and Alice Catoe of Joanna, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Judith Kelly; her special neighbors, Cleve and Irene, Jimmy and Bertha Mae; and several nieces and nephews. Mildred was preceded in death by her brothers, Buddy King, Horace King, and Frank King.

Orva Deloe, 94, died at the McLeod Hospice House on Thursday, December 17, 2015 after a brief but severe illness. A graveside service took place at Florence National Cemetery on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Orva was born on March 5, 1921 on Lehighton, PA, to Anson Mahlon and Cora Ida Kunkel. She grew up in Lehighton and Jersey City, oldest of four children. In 1938, Orva graduated from high school in Lehighton. She then went to Jersey Medical Center where she earned her B.S. in Health Education as well as her certification as a registered nurse.
In May of 1944, Orva enlisted in the U.S. Army. She was assigned to the 131st Evacuation Hospital, which became part of the Central Europe Campaign, eventually helping to liberate the prisoners of war in the Mauthausen Gusen concentration camps.
For her service, she received the Army of Occupation Medal with Germany Clasp, the National Defense Service Medal, The European Theatre of Operations Ribbon with One Battle Star, and the American Theatre and Victory Ribbons, Department of the Army. She received an Honorable Discharge from the Army in January 1954.
In 1952, Orva married Louis J. Deloe, a marriage that ended in 1966. The couple had three children; sons, David Dale Deloe and Alfred Paul Deloe of Florence; and her daughter, Sharon L. Samples of Mint Hill, N.C. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Daniel Samples, Brittany Samples, and Austin Samples.
Orva was a strong and courageous woman who served her country with honor. She was a good mother and a loving grandmother. She outlived her siblings and most of her Round Robin friends from her days in the U.S. Army, and she will be missed by those who remain behind her.

Donna M. Vaughan passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016. A graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 19th at Grove Hill Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Born in Greenville, S.C., Donna was the daughter of the late Frances Roberson and N. Craig McCorkle.
Donna attended Charlotte/Mecklenburg Schools and graduated from Columbia College in 1967. She was the first speech therapist in the Darlington area for 13 years. After several years of volunteer service she was owner/operator of Donna’s Ditty and the Frame Shop. She was a member of Avondale Presbyterian Church in Charlotte until her marriage in 1972, and then moved her records to Darlington Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Eugene Vaughan; her sister-in-law, Pam Vaughan of Darlington; her niece, Claudia Vaughan of Boulder, CO; her nephew, William Vaughan of Columbia; three generations of cousins, cousins-in-law, and a close family of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude A. Vaughan, Jr.
