Weather Service: Tornado touched down in Darlington County Thursday

The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado briefly touched down in Darlington County as a line of storms swept through last Thursday afternoon and evening.
Early data from the NWS says a tornado touched down northeast of Lamar about 6:30 p.m. Reports from the NWS say the tornado’s winds got up to 85 mph.
The NWS reported some trees were downed or damaged, a church suffered damage to shingles on its roof, and the roof of a mobile home was torn off.
There were no reports of injuries. The Red Cross was helping a family whose home on Country Manor Road was damaged.
