Things to know about the Darlington High School band

1. The band director, Brendan Johnson, is a Darlington native.
2. Johnson graduated from Darlington High in 2009.
3. One year, graduating seniors in the DHS band got a combined $750,000 in scholarship offers.
4. Technically speaking, band “involves the study of the basic fundamentals of instrumental music. Emphasis is placed on tone production, technical facility and rhythm skills.”
5.Chauncey Goodson, the Darlington High School senior recently honored for never missing a day of school in 12 years, was a drum major for the band.
