The Men’s Dance Club of Darlington held its 66Th Annual Winter Debutante Ball on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Darlington Country Club. Three young ladies were presented, and one young man was introduced. The club president, Mr. Michael Dean Sigmon, Sr. and Mrs. Sigmon greeted members and guests. Debutantes introduced in the receiving line were Miss Mary Hunter Byrd, Miss Grace Lawton Howard, and Miss Tillman Anne Munson.
Miss Byrd, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Wayne Byrd of Darlington, is a freshman at Newberry College. She was presented by her father, Mr. Jerry Wayne Byrd and escorted by Mr. Stone Rivers Godbold of Darlington. Miss Byrd is the granddaughter of Mrs. Cora Hill Byrd and the late Mr. Jerry William Byrd of Society Hill and Mr. and Mrs. Henry David Taylor and the late Mr. Rivers Furman Flowers of Darlington.
Miss Howard, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Huntley Howard, Sr. of Darlington, is a freshman at Wofford College. She was presented by her father, Mr. Richard Huntley Howard, Sr. and escorted by Mr. Dawson Eugene Joyner of Timmonsville. Miss Howard is the granddaughter of Mrs. Meredith Harter Howard and the late Mr. Armstrong Jolly Howard, III of Darlington, the late Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Coleman (Rosa Huntley) of Florence, Mrs. Louise Hamer Floyd and the late Mr. Charles Edward Floyd of Columbia, and Mr. and Mrs. Julius Gatewood Parris (Kaye Floyd) of Florence.
Miss Munson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Patrick Munson of Darlington, is a sophomore at Clemson University. She was presented by her grandfather, Mr. Marshall Wellington Flowers, Sr. of Darlington and escorted by Mr. James Brian Bagwell, Jr. of Darlington. Miss Munson is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Craig Roman Munson of Mount Pleasant and Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Wellington Flowers, Sr. of Darlington.
Mr. James Brian Bagwell, Jr. was also introduced to the club. Mr. Bagwell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Brian Bagwell, Sr. of Darlington and is a freshman in the Honor’s College at the University of South Carolina. Mr. Bagwell is the grandson of Mrs. Rita Hagins Bagwell of Florence, Mr. and Mrs. James Franklin Bagwell of Darlington, Mr. James Michael Eberhardt and the late Mrs. Enid Hicks Eberhardt of Yemassee. He enjoyed the evening with his date, Miss Tillman Anne Munson of Darlington.
Following the formal presentation of the debutantes and the Debutante Figure, members and their guests enjoyed a seated dinner and dance.
