Student accused of threatening school
The Hartsville Police Department has arrested an unidentified student accused of making a threat against an unnamed Hartsville school on social media.
On March 23, officials said, school resource officers found a threat against a school was circulating on social media. The police identified where the threat came from before the school day was out.
The student was charged with making terroristic threats and is up for expulsion, authorities said.
The Hartsville Police Department said in a Facebook post: “Make no mistake, we will investigate and prosecute these incidents to the fullest extent, even if the person claims it was a ‘joke’ or a ‘prank.’
“We are thankful to have School Resource Officers in the schools that know the students and have investigative experience. They are a big help in investigating these types of incidents.”
