Darlington Downtown Revitalization Association held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the official grand opening for South of Pearl, the upscale eatery and event venue located at 117 Edwards Avenue in Darlington.

South of Pearl owner and host (and sometime cook) Todd Hardee welcomed guests and provided a delicious lunch, a preview of the elegant and country-fresh cuisine available each Thursday night. Hardee invited everyone to check the South of Pearl Facebook page each week for menu previews and advised folks to make their reservations quickly, as the 100-seat accommodation books up pretty darned fast.

Prior to the ribbon cutting, Darlington County Historical Commission director Brian Gandy gave guests a history of the 1899 home and some of its more renowned former residents – like Brunson & Boatwright Hardware owner Jenkins Boatwright, his son P.J. Boatwright Jr., who later became the Executive Director of the United States Golf Association, and famed novelist Elizabeth Boatwright Coker.
