Society Hill Police, Mayor participate in Youth Camp

Society Hill Police Chief M.T. Campbell and Mayor C. Graham accepted an invitation from SC Representative Robert Williams to speak at the Families Engagement Youth Camp hosted by Representative Williams and his wife, Janice Hamm-Williams.
During the event, Chief Campbell and Mayor Graham engaged with youth on several important topics that impact children, families, and communities every day. The presentation focused on bullying, cyberbullying, social media safety, criminal street gangs, and youth violence involving firearms.
The goal of the discussion was to educate and empower young people by providing them with practical knowledge about recognizing harmful situations and making safe, responsible decisions.
Participants learned that there are safe and trusted ways to report bullying, threats, or violence to parents, teachers, school officials, law enforcement officers, or other trusted adults. The presentation also emphasized the importance of responding appropriately during violent situations by seeking safety, reporting concerns immediately, and never attempting to handle dangerous situations on their own.
“We are grateful to Representative Robert Williams for the opportunity to connect with the youth in our community,” said Chief M.T. Campbell. “Educating our young people about the dangers of bullying, online threats, gangs, and gun violence is an important step in building safer schools and stronger communities. Every child should know that they have trusted adults who are ready to listen and help.”
Mayor C. Graham echoed those sentiments, emphasizing that investing time in educating and encouraging youth today helps create a safer and more positive future for the Town of Society Hill.
