SLED charges Sumter County man with Alcohol Violations in Darlington County

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Andre Lamont McBride, 37, with Unlawful Sale of Alcoholic Liquors -1st offense, Failure to Secure a Required Beer or Wine Sales Permit – 1st offense and Operating a Place of Amusement Without a License on Sunday, July 19, 2026.
The investigation was a joint operation by SLED and the Darlington CountySheriff’s Office.
According to the warrants, SLED executed a search warrant at a residence on Pocket Road in Darlington County and found Andre Lamont McBride to be in operational control of an event where an alcoholic beverage was sold to an undercover law enforcement officer equipped with an audio and video recording device.
The location, 1172 Pocket Road, did not possess an alcohol license/permit (issued by the SC Dept. of Revenue) required to sell alcohol. Alcohol sales by unlicensed persons is against the law in South Carolina.
Warrants also state that the event was ticketed and admission was charged without a valid admission tax license (issued by the SC Dept. of Revenue) required to charge admission. Sales of admission by unlicensed persons is against the law in South Carolina.
McBride was booked into the Darlington County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the 4th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
