Search for lost cat continues

Omie’s missing cat
If you know Omie McClary of Darlington, you have met a kind soul that many describe as an “angel on earth,” and “the sweetest woman alive.” Although she never asks for recognition for her efforts, the baking she has done to raise funds for the Darlington County Humane Society is quite legendary…in fact, people from up and down the East coast that work with animal rescues ask if the DCHS folks can bring some of her goodies with them. Many people travel to Fleur de Lis in Hartsville just to purchase her bread and other baked delights. She rarely asks for help, mostly because she is so busy helping others. But her friends have interceded on her behalf and asked that we join them in looking for a cat that she has been desperately seeking – this lovely boy in the photograph above.
The cat was part of a large family of cats cared for by an elderly man that lived at the yellow house at 113 Spring Street near Cashua Street. When the gentleman passed away, Omie helped care for the cats, and re-homed as many as she could. This particular cat was very shy, yet warmed up to her and allowed her to take him inside. She adopted him as her own, and he was living a very happy life.
Unfortunately, however, his love of the outdoors sparked his desire to slip out the door undetected on two occasions only to be found at his former home. The third time he slipped out last spring, he was not found. He has been sighted in other areas in Darlington, but is so scared and easily spooked that he has remained elusive despite many searches.
